Data Visualization at the Designing Peace Exhibition

 

  • What is the goal of data visualization?

based on data visualization is about explaining how Design is good for many reasons such as helping with the conflicts going on in the world. Such as meaningful messages of conflicts that are happening around the world that need to be known. Many of these images can be seen anywhere for example the train station is known for advertising since that's a main transportation that many people use and it's a smart way of promoting or awaring people about many things. Many designs are meant to be eye-appealing and easy to understand, colors and fonts play a huge role in that and so do images. The images should be able to connect well and the most important thing is to be able to see the main idea from those designs

  • Pick one exhibit and describe how it uses imagery to make its point?

one of them in the humane security which can be seen as a playground for kids with is connected to the other side from the border, the point of that is that the design of that is to try to help out people in a good way such as still being able to see each other but make it type connecting, safe, and secure. No one is in danger, showing how design can help.


  • How can you use your skills in graphic design to visualize your data?

My skills in graphic design can help visualize my data by showing how a certain topic is important such as the pictures that are shown it can easily be seen how the design is helpful and can be included in many ways in life. Also making the colors of the images more eye-appealing.


  • How will you improve/revise your initial data visualization rough?

I will improve my initial data visualization by choosing better pictures or making the argument of abortion more noticeable because when presenting I had some comments on different types of topics which wasn't abortion so I'll try to make the main topic of abortion easier to comprehend by using other images and other types of sayings but I think that "bans off our bodies" is easy to understand.

Abortion: This is very sensitive topic that there have been many debates in especially in Texas. It's illegal to abort a developed baby or just abortion in general. This is getting many people angry because others say that "women should have the right to do with her body" but others say that "the baby shouldn't get killed, its innocent" in my opinion I feel like if a women wants to abort her baby then she should because one never knows the reason towards it. Especially if the women was sexually assaulted then we can't force the women to keep the baby. Another reason is not being able to take care of the child or not being financially stable. There are many options that can occur in this debate, and those who force a women to keep a child isn't okay because they aren't the ones who are going to take care of them and they don't know the situation they are going through for them to force to keep the child.

What is Editorial Design?

  Video notes: In the video, it mentions the editorial design basics and from the start, it mentions the grid system. Having a grid system is an important step because it's what holds what is going to be seen which holds everything together. It keeps the consistency of the other elements used especially if creating a brochure you need to make sure that the person who sees it needs to be able to figure out the hierarchy because inconsistent because it can look confusing instead of easy to look at. If you want the reader to have a pause then you can a photo that covers the two pages to let the reader process what the reading is about.  Another way that you can make your design more appealing and eye-catching is making a full bleed photo which contains or two pages covered by an image, this can be very useful because it can give the reader time to visualize the image and contain information. This could be my brand name

 1. Bloom 2. floral 3. Beauty 4. luna 5. rosita These possible brand names look achievable to become part of my project since I'm thinking about a clothing brand or flower boutique. It gives a feeling about beauty and nature since I included "luna" meaning moon. People would get that the brand is mainly about flowers, nature, or beauty. I'm considering to us Rosita or Floral.
